As a single mom raising a 6-year old son in rental housing, I know firsthand the difficulty of balancing family and work in a community where housing affordability is constantly out of reach. I understand the hard choices working parents make each day, and I will be a tireless advocate for affordable housing that aligns with our community character.
As Executive Director at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County, I understand the importance of supporting youth. I will work closely with trusted community organizations to ensure essential city services are allocated responsibly to help empower the next generation.
As a commissioner for the City's Commission for the Prevention of Violence Against Women, I understand the critical need for safe spaces in our community. Ensuring our public spaces are safe and welcoming for everyone will be a priority.

I am deeply committed to collaborating with community members, organizations, and other elected officials to make a meaningful impact and create a more vibrant and equitable community for everyone -- a brighter future for our Santa Cruz County - in recognition that the pressing needs of the county impact our city - and our ability to work towards a more inclusive and equitable community. Here are three countywide priorities that I aim to focus on:
Immediate Housing Solutions for Youth: We all recognize that housing and homelessness are complex and long-standing issues in Santa Cruz County. However, I believe in taking immediate action, particularly in addressing the housing challenges faced by youth. I will work towards implementing effective strategies to provide safe and affordable housing options for unaccompanied youth and for families with young people, ensuring they have access to stable living conditions and support systems.
Healthcare Support for Womxn and LGBTQIA+ Community Members: I strongly believe in promoting equitable healthcare for all individuals, with a particular focus on the needs of womxn and LGBTQIA+ patients. I will advocate for improved access to healthcare services and support, including enhanced support for hormonal treatments and therapies throughout their lifetimes. I understand that addressing these specific healthcare needs is crucial in achieving overall health equity.
Advocacy for Mixed Status Families and Community Members: I am committed to amplifying the voices and concerns of mixed status families, and community members who are not citizens. There are unique challenges faced by these community members, and I will work tirelessly to promote their issues. I aim to create a more inclusive environment by advocating for policies that protect the rights and well-being of all community members, regardless of their immigration status.
